The Dominican Republic continues to differentiate itself from the competition with its enchanting mix of culture, white sandy beaches, extensive landscapes, the charm of historic cities and the adventure of finding adrenaline throughout the island. Couples still want an idyllic destination and white sand beaches to celebrate a honeymoon, an anniversary, Valentine's Day or any other romantic occasion, but now they also want more, and now the trends include adventure and wellness destinations.


They say that couples who live adventures together stay together, and the Dominican Republic is full of options that will put their hearts to beat. On the north coast of the Dominican Republic, the province of Puerto Plata offers a unique natural beauty, in an environment of mountains and kilometers of coastline. Puerto Plata has a lot of culture, it is the province where the remains of the first European settlement in America can be found. The famous three ships of Admiral Christopher Columbus landed here in 1492, calling it La Isabela. Today Puerto Plata is best known for its Atlantic coast with more than 62 miles (100 km) of beaches, coastal towns and hotels, which makes this province perfect for weddings and honeymoons. In Cabarete, you can conquer the waves in a private surf lesson or find inner peace in a private yoga class. The north coast of the Dominican Republic is the epicenter of the country's extreme adventures; there are the Saltos de Damajagua, a series of 27 waterfalls that are an excellent physical challenge for those couples who like challenges. You can reach the waterfalls by hiking on a mountain, and then jump and slide waterfall cascading. Other exciting adventures include canyoning, windsurfing, zipline and much more. Other places of interest are: Brugal rum factory, San Felipe Fortress, Monte Isabel de Torres, Puerto Plata Malecón, Monkey Jungle and El Choco National Park.

For couples with ecological conscience, they will find their own piece of paradise in this in the Dominican Republic, such as the Peninsula of Samaná, known for its exuberant and unspoiled nature, and its magnificent beaches, takes couples out of the ordinary and one of the most Hidden natural gems of the Dominican Republic.
In Samaná, couples can disconnect from civilization traveling by boat to Los Haitíses National Park to visit mangroves and caves engraved with ancient pre-Columbian petroglyphs of the Taino Indians. In addition, there are the famous Ziplines of Samaná, where you can see the tropical forests of Samaná and enjoy more than 20 platforms, such as Salto el Limón, waterfall that falls from the high part of the Sierra de Samaná to about 40 meters (130 feet). To get there, you can travel 2.5 km (1.5 miles), it can be done on foot, or by horse.

In Samaná you can also enjoy in Las Galeras, located at the tip of the Samaná peninsula, it is the ideal destination for a quiet wedding or an intimate honeymoon. And for couples looking for a beachside city atmosphere, Las Terrenas offers a mix of distinctive restaurants and bars alongside beautiful white sandy beaches dotted with picturesque pastel wooden fishing boats. There are also numerous beaches on which Playa Cosón, El Valle beach and Playa Bonita stand out.
To continue with the adventure, the central regions of Jarabacoa and Constanza are an impressive tapestry of green and lush valleys with a mountainous backdrop. Couples looking for excitement can paraglide over the valley and admire the breathtaking views at 4,000 feet. Ecological hotels and local tour operators offer rustic accommodations in addition to organizing tours and activities such as rafting on the Yaque del Norte River, mountain biking, horse riding to nearby waterfalls and excursions to Pico Duarte, the highest in the Caribbean.

Constanza is often called the Switzerland of the Caribbean. In the winter (December to March) Constanza can be cold, with temperatures falling in single digits at night, but warming up very well during the days. The temperatures during the summer are pleasant and even the midday activities are not too warm. Constanza is the geographical center of the country. Surrounded by nature and by four large national parks. The visits to the farms are organized by the small hotels in this main agricultural area.

Jarabacoa is an easily accessible mountain area, located at an altitude of 1,736 feet (529 meters) and is one of the favorite places for residents of Santo Domingo who seek the cooler temperatures and mental relaxation afforded by the panoramic views. It is ideal for adventure lovers with the best rafting in the Caribbean, as well as mountain biking, canyoning, paragliding, abseiling and mountain horseback riding. Jarabacoa is also the most popular gateway for excursions to the highest peak in the Caribbean, Pico Duarte. Large ranches cater to local and international tourists. Other attractions that Jarabacoa has are: Valle Nuevo, Jimenoa Falls, Ebano Verde Scientific Reserve, Japanese Garden.
This is how the Dominican Republic shows its diversity by offering different options for those lovers who are looking not only to enjoy an unforgettable wedding, but to start a new life together full of fun and adrenaline.
